Rod Wave
Rodarius Marcell Green[2] (born on August 27, 1998) also known as Rod Wave, is an American rapper and singer. His strong vocals and the blending of hip-hop and R&B is what led him to be a pioneer in soul-trap. The single from 2019 "Heart on Ice" became viral on YouTube, TikTok, and was ranked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wave's debut album Ghetto Gospel (2019) peaked at the 10th spot on the US Billboard 200. [8] His second album Pray 4 Love (2020) peaked at the top of the Billboard 200 at number 2,[99. The album featured the hit song "Rags2Riches" which climbed to number 12 on the Hot 100. His third album, SoulFly (2021), debuts at number one on the Billboard 200 (marking his first album that reached the top of the charts). The career of Wave began in the year 2016, when he released the first installment of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. He released mixtapes in the independent market prior to signing with Alamo Records. The mixtape PTSD was released on June 14 on the 14th of June, 2019. The mixtape included the track "Heart on Ice". The track was a hit on YouTube, TikTok and reached 25th on the Billboard Hot 100. Wave's debut album Ghetto Gospel (November 1, 2019,) came out. It peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200. The 3rd of April, 2020 Rod Wave released his second album, "Pray 4 Love". It was released at the 2nd spot in the Billboard 200. A deluxe edition came out on August 7. Nine songs from the album charted in the Billboard Hot 100. "S" (featuring ATR son Son) made it to number 12 on the Hot 100. It became the most chart-topping song of his career. Wave was part of XXL's 2020 Freshman class on August 11 the 11th of August, 2020. Wave made an appearance in July of 2020, revealing that he was still working on his third studio album. This was originally planned for August 27, 2020. [2] He revealed the tracks on his album SoulFly on March 6 2021. [16][17] The album also includes songs "Street Runner" and "Tombstone" the highest-charting song which peaked at number 11 on the Hot 100. "18.19.19." The track by the band "Nirvana", released in the latter half of 2021, sparked controversy. Many believed the track could be a suicide note, however, Wave strongly denied this. [20]
