Ariana Grande-Butera (/,a:ri'a:n@ 'gra'ndeI/ AR-eeAH-n@ GRAHN-day, [note 1] born on June 26th, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Her unique usage of the whistle register as well as her four-octave voice range is well-respected by critics and media. Grande has received numerous accolades throughout her career such as two Grammy Awards, one Brit Award and one Bambi Award, two Billboard Music Awards as well as three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, and thirty Guinness World Records.


Grande began her musical career at the age of 15 and was featured in the 2008 Broadway musical 13. Grande made her name a household name as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's television series Victorious (2010 - 2013) and as Sam and Cat(2013 from 2013 to 2014). After watching YouTube videos of Grande covering songs, Republic Records signed Grande in 2011. Grande's 1950s-doowop-influenced R&B and debut pop album, [2] Yours Truly (2013) it reached the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. The album was immediately was compared to Mariah Carey's duet vocals and whistle register.


She continued to explore pop and R&B in her third and second studio albums, My Everything (2014) and Dangerous Woman (2016). My Everything tried EDM, and was a huge success with the singles "Problem", Break Free and "Bang Bang", while Dangerous Woman was her first of four consecutive number one albums released in the UK. Personal struggles influenced her trap-infused fourth and fifth studio albums, Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019) Both of them were critical and commercial successes. Sweetener won Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U Next broke the record for the biggest streaming week for pop albums and was nominated as Album of the Year. The songs "Thank U, Next", "7 Rings", and "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" have made Grande the first solo artist to be in the top three positions on the Hot 100 simultaneously and the first woman to achieve success in the top spot of the UK Singles Chart. Grande broke the Hot 100 record for the highest number-one debuts by debuting Justin Bieber's 2020 collaboration "Stuck with U" with Lady Gaga. The latter was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Grande added new tracks to the trap genre in her sixth studio album, Positions (2020), which was released in 2020. Both the album and the title track came out at number one both in both the UK as well as the US. Grande worked with The Weeknd on the remix of "Save Your Tears" and became her sixth US number one single.
