Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 the 28th of October, 1967. Her grandfather, her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer was one of the first Roberts to move to Atlanta. At an early age, her father became interested in theater. When he was a college student in Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of numerous performances. When he was stationed in Biloxi Mississippi, he was commissioned into the Air Force in the year 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was part of the show as well. The couple got married in the year 1955. Their baby son Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. Walter went to Tulane University at New Orleans, Louisiana in 1957 after they had separated from the US Air Force. Walter joined Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio at the time the family relocated from Atlanta to Decatur in Georgia in the year 1960. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local Saturday morning children's show on television called Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. In 1964, Walter and Betty Lou established the Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted about six years. During this time they had two more youngsters Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965, in 1965 and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
